Moving Down River
For three years the Riverside Short Film & Video Festival has been held in the tiny hamlet of McKittrick, Missouri hosted by a lovely venue - the McKittrick Farmers Mercantile, growing each year. In 2015 the festival was at near capacity for "The Merck" as locals call it. During this year, founder/director Patti Ryan decided to step down for health reasons and began discussing the future with the committee and friends of the festival. It was clear that a new home would have to be found for it to grow. It seemed natural for the festival to move downstream to New Haven, since the committee has been working with businesses & individuals there who have supported them from day one. The idea of moving the festival to New Haven has been welcomed with open arms and the excitement has begun, a director selected and the Riverfront Cultural Society is on board. Expansion plans are already in the works and Tara Steffens will be in the director's chair. The event will be held in April as always. Call for Entries will be announced on Facebook, on this website & many other festival websites by the end of August. Watch here for details about the event, it should be an amazing debut.
The Riverside Short Film & Video Festival committee would like to thank ALL who helped us to keep this Festival going & in particular Rich Lauer and Joey Los who housed and fed the festival.

Saturday April 11th was the date of the Third Annual Riverside Short Film and Video Festival held in McKIttrick at the McKittrick Farmers Mercantile. The evening began with a sumptuous Hollywood Buffet prepared by Chef Joey Los and the committee, The Old Time Candy counter was supplied by Sugar Mama's of Hermann. The photo booth got a workout & a few costumes were a spotted.
The upper floor at The Merck (as the building is lovingly called by locals) was transformed into a theater for the third year for the festival featuring short films from around the world and right up the road.
All the films were well received by the audience in attendance. The committee would like to thank The Merck & owner Rich Lauer; their donors, Reliable Plumbing and Spirit Hill Guest House & Gardens; Hagedorn Signs for banners, Astral Glass for making our Award, Sugar Mama's for candy, those who attended our Trivia night and the Saturday Gala and Showcase & ALL the filmmakers who submitted films.
Watch this website to see information on applying for the scholarship to be awarded later this year & news on next year's festival. Patti Ryan will be stepping down as director, so a change is in the works for next year. Keep an eye on the website as the details are worked out.

Another amazing Hollywood Buffet by Joey Los, an enthusiastic crowd & spirited auction to end the evening. Mark your calendars for next year tentatively April 11, 2015. Don't miss out on the fun next year! Costume contest went to Ray and Kathy Ham in perfect character as Gladys Ormphby and Tyrone F. Horneigh from the popular 60's/70's show Laugh- In. 2013 Film Festival a Success!
Mi Ojo Derecho (My Right Eye) by Josecho de Linares was our winner this year, It is a multi-award winner internationally already, but Josecho was pleased to win our little event. We had two local filmmakers in attendance, and we think everyone had a great time. Best Costume went to Marsha Nyberg for her Audry Hepburn from Breakfast At Tiffany's.
We hope we can get more in attendance next year, but we were happy with smaller enthusiastic crowd for our first year.
